Driver shares $12 Amazon item that stopped 25-year-old Porsche squeaking like 'desert rain frog' – but read fine print | 2YJY87S | 2024-04-23 12:08:01
A DRIVER has revealed multiple small annoying quirks he's noticed about the luxury sports car he recently purchased.
After six months with his first-generation Porsche Boxster, a driver expressed that he's over the moon with the vehicle despite minor issues like a froggy squeak coming from one of the car doors.

The sports car is a vintage and luxurious automobile but The Autopian auto culture reporter Thomas Hundal admitted that the vehicle that's new to him is a 25-year-old car.
"Opening the driver's door," the driver asked before answering his own question.
"It squeaked like a particularly pissed-off desert rain frog."
The car owner said that the sound the passenger makes when it's being opened is "almost as quiet as leaves rustling."
Hundal stressed that the frog-like squeak makes the car just a little less cool for him.
"Talk about messing with the vibe," he stated.
"Am I right?"
Despite the squeaky door, he does love his vintage Porsche and actually found a way to fix that "minor annoyance."
He noted a product named Gummi-Pflege.
Hundal explained that the name of the substance is German for 'rubber care.'

The driver stressed that the product is highly regarded among owners of creaky German cars.
The Porsche owner didn't have great luck finding the Gummi-Pflege in Canada and decided to purchase a substance more available in his region – Sonax Rubber Protectant.
Hundal referred to it as "the next best thing."
He explained that it was a $12 bottle of product.

The Porsche owner said he bought the item through Sonax's official Amazon page.
When he had the product in hand and opened the driver's door of his Porsche, the noisy trouble area "was easy to spot," he said.
He knew where to "restore a touch of flexibility" in the dor to help with the sound but needed to first clean the area.
To finish the process after applying the product he compared to Vans shoe cleaner, he wiped off the excess seal conditioner with a microfiber towel.
Not only had the Sonax Rubber Protectant helped with the squeaky sound, but Hundal said he didn't hear the sound when he opened and closed the door anymore at all.
"Vanished, banished, presto," he added.
"Admittedly, I shouldn't be surprised, but if a $12 bottle of product can fix an aggravating squeak, that's well worth the price tag."
The driver explained that the substance was made of "a lot of silicone."
"Which is usually a good thing," Hundal stated.
"Given how many automakers recommend liquid silicone for conditioning weatherstripping."
That being said, he warned that the product doesn't work nicely with all weatherstripping.
