But the hosts prevailed as they allowed the Huskies to knock down just one bucket within the final four minutes and 40 seconds of the clash.
Bluejays fans stormed the courtroom as soon as the buzzer sounded.
And basketball fans celebrated with them on social media.
"I really like when this s**t occurs, it's like a rush of endorphins. I can't watch for March Madness," one wrote.
"Crazy," one other added.
"This is the reason we love school basketball," a third stated.
"Superb! Chills!! Making my week!!!!" one wrote.
UConn head coach Dan Hurley appeared notably annoyed with the loss, which snapped his workforce's 14-game profitable streak.
Video footage later emerged that showed Hurley seemingly telling a Creighton fan "I'll knock you out" on his option to the locker room.
It's unclear what induced the Huskies coach's outburst.

"Your huddles aren't going to be tremendous energized if you haven't lost in two-plus months.
"We have been undoubtedly surprised. This wasn't the sport we anticipated, we knew this was a harmful recreation and a top quality opponent and one of many higher groups in the country.
"However we didn't anticipate this to happen."
