Netflix Admits Baby Reindeer's 'Real Martha' Isn't a Convicted Stalker
UPDATE 8/1 at 2:34 p.m. ET-More than one month after Fiona Harvey filed a lawsuit accusing Netflix of defamation, the streaming platform is acknowledging differences between Harvey and the Baby Reindeer character Martha, who is allegedly based on her. In a letter sent to the British Parliament's Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Netflix conceded that Harvey has never been legally recognized as a stalker, per Deadline. According to the outlet, the admission came after Netflix's senior UK director of public policy, Benjamin King, told the committee in May that the Richard Gadd-led Netflix series Baby Reindeer is a true story of the horrific abuse that Gadd suffered at the hands of a convicted stalker.
