Tony Maxwell was described as a 'beautiful boy' and a 'remarkable young man'

A British tourist died after falling five floors from his hotel balcony in Turkey.

Tony Maxwell, 21, was on holiday with his girlfriend, 33, in Antalya, on the south coast.

But the crane operator from Maldon, Essex fell from his fifth floor hotel room.

Police and medics went to the scene and took the seriously injured man to hospital.

Tony, described by his family as a 'beautiful boy', later died of his injuries on April 18.

His girlfriend was taken to a police station after the incident, but has since been released.

Tony's mother Jade was told about his death over the telephone, according to a GoFundMe campaign launched by his family.

It said: 'For any mother this news is unbearable, but for this family, she has to stay strong for his two younger siblings and grieve her son who is currently still in a foreign country.'

They have set up the fundraiser to help return Tony's body family – to the UK.

It had received nearly £4,500 out of a £6,000 target by Monday evening.

Paying tribute to the 'remarkable young man', the fundraiser says: 'He was the best big brother to his siblings, he was the friend that made everyone laugh, and the most polite young man I have encountered.

'No mother should ever have to say goodbye to their child.'

A Foreign Office (FCDO) spokesperson confirmed it is 'supporting the family of a British man who died in Turkey'.

Antony's death comes just days after another British holidaymaker died in a tourist hotspot in Turkey.
