BBC Northern Eire reporter David Capper has died aged 91

Former BBC journalist David Capper has died aged 91, it has been confirmed.

Capper was a correspondent on BBC Eire and a well-known face for a lot of on their TV screens.

The Belfast-born broadcaster reported for BBC Northern Ireland's Scene Around Six and was the national radio correspondent throughout a number of atrocities, resembling Bloody Sunday and Bloody Friday.

Having started his profession at Newtownards Chronicle, Capper coated his first major news story there, which was the sinking of the Princess Victoria in 1953.

Capper also spent a number of years working in Vancouver, returning to Northern Ireland to edit an area paper, earlier than joining reporters at the Belfast Telegraph.

He later moved to the BBC staff in Buenos Aires through the Falklands Conflict.
